E2: Exercise Insight of the Week: Wrists

When it comes to exercise, one of the most neglected parts of the body is the wrist. The body is only as strong as its weakest link and when wrists are weak, it puts limits on how hard you can work your upper body when attempting to manage heavy loads, as well as limits your effectiveness in various physical activities.

In many sports, such as golf, martial arts, boxing, baseball, wrestling or skiing (just to name a few), the wrists serve as a major variable in being able to carry out the specific movements or skills required of the sport.

To strengthen your wrists, include exercises such as wrist curls, reverse wrist curls, wrist rolls, and wrist rotations into your weekly workout routine. You will find the benefits of these wrist exercises will not only strengthen this often, “weak link” but will also aid in strengthening your whole upper body as well as increase success when engaging in sporting activities.
